Student feedback 2015-16
This course has proved extremely useful in helping to identify gaps in my knowledge. The study day begins with a quiz related to the topic area which allows you to establish a baseline of your own level of knowledge so that you can improve upon this. In addition to this it has enabled me to connect with other pre-registration pharmacists which has allowed me to share revision tips and study techniques where I would not have previously had the opportunity to do so.
The pre registration course provided by The Prereg Training Company has been very beneficial as it provides a useful insight and plan on how to tackle the pre registration exam. The teaching is beneficial as there is a lot of interaction between the student and teacher and intense sessions on different topics provides good understanding and knowledge towards the different conditions and topics e.g. respiratory system etc. we have learnt how to complete calculations and targets have been set for the following month which helps motivate me to complete them due to the new techniques provided on how to tackle the calculations. Overall, the course has proved to be of value as I have been able to apply the knowledge I have acquired so far from the course to my daily practice as a pre registration student at my pharmacy therefore I would definitely recommend this course to future pre registration students.
This is a great pre-registration training course. This company provides the best support and guides you over the pre-registration year for smooth transition. The teachers are highly qualified and well experienced. This training company provides sufficient support to pass pre-registration assessment, as well as to become a decent pharmacist. This company offers more classes to cover whole pre-registration syllabus compare to other existing companies. Teaching in a small group, explaining all clinical topics which relate to the pharmacy, pre-reg exam techniques and much more. I recommend this course for pre-reg students in order to improve knowledge and prepare for future assessment.
The style of teaching within the course varies to meet the needs of all the different learning style. This includes doing relevant past papers to group discussion and interactive quizzes . Also as the group is not large there is a lot of support given especially if there is an area in which I am struggling with. One things which I really like is that there is flexibility within the course and how it is tailored around our needs, which means we aren't covering irrelevant areas. Samir has worked in most fields of pharmacy and so is able to share real life experiences with us, which not only solidifies our learning for the pre-registration exam but will also help us to become better pharmacists in the future. I would definitely recommend this course to all.
Thank you so much for this wonderful training program. Really this training has helped me to understand where I could develop my knowledge further. I have benefited from different ways of addressing different topics in pharmacy. I had a weakness in calculation but through the dedicated tutor Emma Swift who is very helpful she has pointed me in the right direction. I feel very confident and satisfied with this training and encourage many more colleagues to join. Thank you so much.
As a hospital pre-reg, I have found the course useful with regards to providing a point of focus in terms of visiting separate areas relating to a range of areas in pharmacy. The things we cover in this course do not only relate to the pre-reg exam but also to successful pharmacy practice following registration, which is perhaps more important than “just passing the exam”.
When we do cover material directly related to the exam in terms of revision, I find it very helpful in highlighting the areas which I do need to revisit and re-learn even. This is usually because of the reflective nature of every session so far where we have to reflect and evaluate ourselves to identify gaps in our knowledge.
One other way I find the course useful is in terms of networking, I have the opportunity to meet and stay in contact with other pre-regs who work in other settings like community as well as colleagues who I went to uni with. I have no doubt that this will come in handy in future (getting locum shifts or putting a good word in! etc.).
For those of you who are not familiar with Samir and his teaching style, all I would say his way of teaching works. Almost everyone I know who has been taught by him comes away with a positive opinion of him. Simply put, he gets you to think about what YOU know, and HOW you’ll learn what you don’t. As a pre-reg you will quickly realise there isn’t much structure out there to help you cover the material, this course is an important starting point for me.
